  • Sam Brown is a musician, songwriter, performer, and ukulele teacher from London, now living in Dorset. Born in October 1964, Sam started making music at age 12. She has since created magic as a backing vocalist, songwriter, and lead vocalist; selling over 3 million records. Sam’s biggest hit, "Stop!", reached the top ten in a variety of countries during the 1980s, before being featured in the 1992 film Bitter Moon. She has released seven studio albums, one EP, and one live album.

  • As a lead and backing vocalist, Sam has worked across decades and genres with the great and the good, the past and present, including, but not limited to — David Gilmour, Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Fish, George Harrison, Joe Brown, Joe Cocker, Jools Holland, Pink Floyd, Spandau Ballet, Steve Marriot, and many more!

  • In 2007, Sam began experiencing severe problems with her voice. A firm diagnosis has never been made, resulting in Sam ceasing recording and performances.

Although she can no longer achieve pitch and closure simultaneously, 2023 saw Sam back in the studio. Utilising vocal manipulation technology to liberate her creative spirit, Sam released the courageous and vulnerable new collection, Number 8.

  • Although Sam no longer sings live professionally, she is still bursting with creativity. Sam recorded her 8th album in 2023, aptly named, wait for it…. Number 8

Sam currently teaches ukulele in Oxfordshire, Dorset, London, and Australia. The Umbrella name for all her uke clubs is The Fabulous Ukulele Club.

  • More information will be available soon on Sam’s fabulous history with the ukulele; past, present, and future! This will include gigs and information on how you can join The Fabulous Ukulele Clubs — both in person and online. Be sure to keep an eye out!

In the mean time, please feel free to Contact Us if you have any ukulele queries.

Tea in the afternoon
I can't do without it
And I think I'll have
Another cup very soon”
